a self-guided exploration of play with light and shadows

In this participatory installation the audience were provided with simple instructions on how to engage with the work prior to entering the darkened gallery space. 

On entry there were two tables, one with torches and the other strewn with objects. Each participant was invited to chose an object before entering into the space and once in the space they were encouraged to cast shadows onto the wall. 

By observing their behaviour when in the space there was a noticeable difference in how people interacted with the work and with each other. Some kept to themselves while other interacted, shared objects and collaborated during a self-guided exploration of play with light and shadows.
